Birthday Cake and CandlesI spent the weekend chasing my two boys around the neighborhood, trying in vain to keep them in the shade.  We had a blast at a neighborhood parade and block party to celebrate Independence Day.  The triple digit heat finally drove me indoors on Sunday afternoon and I stumbled upon “What Should I Do on Your Birthday” by Seth Godin.  I love Seth Godin’s work, what can I say.

Seth writes, “With all due respect to Hallmark, the idea of sending people cards and presents on their birthday seems both selfish and small-minded. It seems to me that we could think bigger.  On the birthday of your company or brand, what would you like your customers to do?”

This made me think, since our Dallas elder care company just celebrated its second birthday.  So, for HealthBridge’s second birthday, here’s our wish:

Ask a senior you care about a question and listen to their reply.  Visit an elderly friend this week and reminisce about old times.  Write a note - with ink - to a senior care client thanking them for allowing you into their life.  In other words, care for your loved ones and your senior care clients, as surely they have cared for you.

That’s all we want.  Well, one more thing: If you grant our birthday wish, we’d like to hear about it.  Please leave a comment below or send us an email.

What’s your birthday wish?

This is an excellent reminder to us all about what is really important in life. In this fast paced life it is too easy to place our focus on the business of caregiving rather than the actual reason for providing care - whether we are taking care of a family member or a client. This is a great reminder that most of all people want to be loved and appreciated.
