Meet the Caregiver

Posted by Matt Johnson on Thu, Aug 27, 2009 @ 12:01 PM

dallas elder care giversThis morning my wife and I brought our son to Meet the Teacher day at his preschool.  This is his first year in preschool and we've had so many questions racing through our minds.

Will his teacher be kind and encouraging?  Will he be enthusiastic about learning in a classroom setting?  Will he make life long friendships with his classmates?

Meeting the teacher this morning helped tremendously.  We put a face with a name and were reassured by her warm, thoughtful personality.  Plus, we now have appropriate expectations about how preschool will work, since the teacher herself is so critical to the process.

Throughout the Meet the Teacher process, I couldn't help but notice the similarities to elder care.  Each time we begin caregiving, our clients ask:

Will my caregiver be kind and encouraging?  Will I stay sharp and preserve my independence in my home?  Will my caregiver and I become friends and enjoy each other's company?

To answer these questions, let's Meet the Caregiver.  Give us a call and we'll arrange a meeting between you, our caregiver and one of our care managers.  You can get to know each other and see if there's a good fit.  We love our caregivers and we know you will too.

If you'd like a preview of HealthBridge caregivers before you meet up, check out these two pages on our website:

  • Caregiver of the Week - Each week we recognize a caregiver who has gone the extra mile to deliver outstanding customer service.  We interview each of them and post the interview to our blog each Wednesday.  This page is summary of those interviews.

  • Dallas Elder Caregivers - This page describes our team and spotlights a couple of our clients' favorites.

A chance to Meet the Caregiver will reduce your loved one's stress and anxiety and will make the elder care experience much more successful.

This is a great idea. Much of the fear of in home healthcare can be, I believe, alleviated if our patients and their families are allowed to meet us and ask us some basic questions.
