Have you heard this story?

A guy is getting his taxes done by a new CPA.  She's about to know so much about him and he wants to get to know her better too.  So, he asks her about her career goals.

"I would love to be a chef," she says.

"Huh," says the confused guy.  "Then why in the world did you get a job doing the books?"

"Well, I just love to cook," answers the smirking accountant.

You can tell a lot about someone by asking about their dreams and goals.

We wanted to know more about our very best caregivers' lifelong aspirations.  We were wondering if there was a connection between their performance today and their goals for the future.

Senior Care Giver Goals

We recently conducted an intense study of our very best caregivers. We wanted to find out what made them tick. We also wanted to find out what lessons we could learn to help good senior caregivers become great.

Over the last few weeks, I shared the results of the first couple of question we asked about special skills that make great caregivers.

The third question we asked was, "What are your life goals and aspirations?" The word cloud above is a visual representation of their responses. Below, are the unedited responses from a sampling of our very best caregivers.

So, what are great caregivers' goals?

  • to get a script filmed, publish poetry as an inspirational book
  • writing, various projects, on the Texas Invention Board
  • become a LVN but concerned how she will cover her bills when in school. Figure out what she can do back home to make a living
  • be one of the best writers around, get married, own a home with a porch & garden, write meaningful content
  • make people happy - family & clients, put a smile on people's faces
  • own her own healthcare business
  • expand her service to the elderly community, get education & licensing, use brain vs. manual work
  • become a nurse, leave a lasting impression with clients, for people to know she truly cares, to have a happy family
  • live day-by-day, "I'm 74 yrs old & happy with things just the way they are"
  • go back to school to be a nurse
  • to be a nurse
  • to be self employed in this industry
  • prepare for retirement
  • improve performance, go back to school to become a nurse
  • make clients happy & comfortable, maintain a good reputation
  • the foundation for her parents back home
  • to be a nurse
  • make sure her clients are happy, outstanding service with every visit, always remember you are representing HealthBridge, to own a home health company, SNF administrator/management

What did you think of our superstar caregivers' goals?

Good tip... it's also a good idea to ask the care receivers what their dreams and wishes are... what's important to them so that you can provide quality - personal - care.

Great point, Kevin. We're conducting a similar study this year with our clients.

As with the caregiver study, we'll publish the results to this community when we're finished.
